Tonights NHL Picks October 17th 2014

1-1 last night as we picked up a winner  on the over between the Sharks and Isles. The Blues and Kings game made it all the way to a shootout, the game was scoreless in regulation time and overtime despite the Blues taking a whopping 43 shots on Quick. Quick had his best performance of the season last night, stopping all of the 43 shots. The Kings managed just 18 shots against Elliot and stole the win in the shootout winning 1-0. Frustrating, especially when we know we are getting great odds on a team, and the game ends like that!

A solid underdog selection tonight:

Minnesota Wild @ Anaheim Ducks: WILD 2.30

Risk: 2 Units | Win: 2.60 Units (Members Only Pick)

Here we are again with a very generous price on the Wild this evening. The Minnesota Wild opened up their season with back-to-back home-at-home victories over the Colorado Avalanche, and have had nearly a week of practice and rest before taking on the Anaheim Ducks in their home opener tonight. The Wild blanked the Avalanche in both games, winning the first 5-0 and the second 3-0. Darcy Kuemper faced a total of 46 shots in the two games, (16+30), stopping all of them. Darcy played a total of 6 games with the Wild in the 2013/14 season, going 3-1-1 with a .913 SV% and a 2.03 goals against average. The Ducks have also had a decent start to their season (all games on the road), currently with a 3-1 record, their only loss coming against Pittsburgh on Oct.9th. The Ducks got by Detroit by a score of 3-2, smoked Buffalo 5-1 with 44 shots on goal, and barely made it past the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, winning that one 4-3 in a shootout. The Ducks allowed 42 shots against Philly, while taking just 28 of their own. The Anaheim penalty kill unit hasn’t had the best run, currently with a 76.9 PK%, they allowed 2 goals on 4 tries against Philadelphia. The Wild haven’t had any luck on the power play so far against Colorado however they are a perfect 100% on the penalty kill. The active Minnesota offense will face Frederik Anderson tonight in goal for the Ducks (confirmed). Anderson, like Kuemper, also has a perfect record (his is 3-0) on the season, with a 1.95 GAA and a .928 SV%. After allowing 0 goals in his first two games, we can expect to see Keumper back in goal for the Wild. This should be a great game tonight, the first real challenge for the Minnesota Wild this season. If the Wild can keep up the offense we’ve seen in their first two games against Colorado, they have a much better shot at winning this one than this price indicates. Take the value on the Wild tonight to upset the Ducks in their home opener!
