San Jose Sharks @ New York Islanders: OVER 5.5 Goals 1.93

Risk: 2 Units | Win: 1.86 Units

Both clubs are off to a great start so far this season with records of 3-0. Neither the Sharks nor the Islanders have been shy in the scoring department, as we’ve seen plenty off goals scored by both teams. The San Jose Sharks are averaging 4.00 goals per game, scoring 4 goals against Los Angeles in their season-opening 4-0 blowout of the defending Stanley Cup Champions, a 3-0 blanking of the Winnipeg Jets, and a 6-5 shootout win over the Washington Capitals. The Sharks nearly blew a 3-0 lead in that one. It’s interesting to note that the Sharks were out-shot in 2 of 3 of their victories, yet in both of those games their opponents couldn’t score one single goal. The New York Islanders managed to score 15 goals in three games, an average of 5.00 goals per game. The Islanders defense hasn’t been as effective as the Sharks though, as the Isles have allowed 3.00 goals against per game. The Islanders penalty kill unit hasn’t been the greatest, currently at 66.7% which could allow for a few goals, as they’ve been taking an average of 11.7 penalty minutes per game. The New York power play unit has been sensational at 41.7%, which could also grant them a few goals tonight as the Sharks are 81.8% on the penalty kill. Jaroslav Halak (probable tonight) has won both of his starts however he currently has a 3.00 GAA accompanied by a .901 SV%. Antti Niemi is also 2-0 on the season with a 2.40 GAA and a .926 SV%. Both clubs have been scoring plenty of goals this season, look for the scoring to continue tonight to send this one over 5.5 goals.
