The Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche opened their seasons against each other Thursday evening, with the Wild absolutely embarrassing the Avalanche in a 5-0 win. The Wild pounded Varlamov with 38 shots on goal in his 40 minute span on the ice. Varlamov allowed all 5 goals against Colorado on just 38 shots, finishing his time on the ice with a .868 SV%. Varlamov is confirmed in goal tonight for the Avalanche. I don’t necessarily think this game will be another blow-out, however there is value on Minnesota tonight considering we are getting the Wild at a price of 2.07, two days after they pounded this club. If the Colorado defense can’t contain Parise, Granlund and Pominville again tonight then they are in for some trouble. Not only must the Avs tighten up their defense, they need to get some offense going, considering the Colorado offense was able to reach Keumper with just 16 shots on Thursday. Colorado will need to make some drastic changes before game time tonight if they have any chance of beating the hot Minnesota offense. There’s value on the wild tonight, take the generous price on them to upset the Avalanche for the second time in three days.
