Tonights NHL Picks- March 8 2014

The Devils played a close game early on but the Red Wings offense was just too much, out-shooting the Devils 33-25 and winning the game 7-4. There’s lots of action around the League tonight, we have one pick going.

Boston Bruins @ Tampa Bay Lightning: BRUINS 1.82

The Bruins continue to dominate on the ice, winning three games in a row, out-scoring their opponents 13-4 in those contests (average of 4.33 G/G, 1.33 GA/G last 3 games) while the Tampa Bay Lightning have lost three in a row, and were out-scored 13-6. The Bruins have the 2nd best defense in the League, allowing just 2.18 goals against per game and have allowed 2.30 goals against per game over their last 10 games. The Bolts rank 11th overall on defense with 2.54 goals against per game, however the Tampa Bay defense has allowed a surprising 3.20 GA/G over their last 10 games. The Bruins have been surging on the offense while the Lightnings offense has been under performing. Boston ranks 4th for offense with 3.13 goals per game, and have scored a blistering 3.60 goals per game over their last 10 games while the Lightning have scored just 2.30 GA/G over their last 10 games. The Lightning offense ranks 13th overall with 2.76 goals per game. When it comes to special teams, the Boston power play is 8th overall at 20.8% (23.3% over their last 10 games), while the Lightning power play ranks 19th overall at just 16.9% (12.5% over L10). The Bruins penalty kill is successful 82.5% of the time (13th) while the Tampa Bay PK unit is the 25th overall at 80.0%. Also note that the Tampa Bay point leader Martin St.Louis (61 points) has been traded to the New York Rangers and will no longer be there to put points on the board for the Bolts. The Bruins are playing great hockey right now and should be able to upset the Bolts in Tampa Bay tonight.
