St.Louis Blues @ Chicago Blackhawks: BLUES 2.07

We are getting the best team in the NHL at an underdog price tonight. The Blues reign supreme in the NHL standings with 101 points, Boston sits 2nd overall in the League standings two points shy of the Blues. Note though that the Bruins have one game on the Blues. The Avalanche lost last night while the Blackhawks lost in overtime, gaining a much needed point on the Avs. They now sit par with the Avalanche in points with 93 points. A win for St.Louis tonight will deprive the Blackhawks of a much needed 2 points, and will help secure the Blues’ spot at the top of the Central Division. The two clubs are practically even when it comes to offense, as the Blackhawks sit atop the scoring charts with 3.30 goals per game, while the Blues are just one spot below them with 3.21 goals per game. The Blackhawks are playing on no rest after suffering a tough loss to the Flyers last night. The Blues have had one day off since their 3-1 victory over the Jets on Monday, and with that win they have put together a 3 game winning streak, outscoring their opponents 13-4 in those three contests. The St.Louis club have won 8 of their last 10 games (80%), and have scored an average of 2.90 goals per game over that span, while allowing just 1.60 goals against per game. Scoring has slowed for the Chicago club, as they have scored just 2.60 goals per game over their last 10 games, and have lost 6 of 10 of those games. The Blackhawks allowed 2.10 GA/G over their last 10 games. When it comes to overall defense, the Blues have the advantage as they sit 3rd overall allowing just 2.19 GA/G while the Blackhawks are 11th overall allowing an average of 2.52 GA/G. Ryan Miller is confirmed in goal for the Blues tonight and has been playing fantastic in goal for the Blues, going 7-0-1 since his transition to the St.Louis club. Miller is 22-22-4 on the season with a .925 SV% (6th) and a 2.53 GAA (21st). Crawford hasn’t been confirmed yet but he is the probable starter as Raanta faced the Flyers last night. Crawford is 26-12-10 season-to-date and has a 2.26 GAA (10th) and a .918 SV% (13th). The Blues have the 2nd best penalty kill unit in the NHL (86.3% overall and 93.1% over L10) while the Chicago power play unit (20.6% overall) has been struggling to convert, achieving a weak 9.7% success rate over their last 10 games. If the Blackhawks do get some power play opportunities tonight it’s not likely they will convert. The Blues have the 3rd best power play in the League, an impressive 20.8%. You can’t ask for a much better gift than getting the best team in the NHL as underdogs, we’ll back the Blues tonight and will look for them to upset the Blackhawks for a fourth time this season.
