Tonights NHL Picks January 8th 2015

0-1 last night as we needed just one more goal as the game ended in a 3-2 Red Wings victory.

One of our own tonight plus a system pick that we are receiving great odds on:

Winnipeg Jets @ Arizona Coyotes: JETS 1.84

Risk: 2 Units | Win: 1.68 Units

The Winnipeg Jets come into this game in the fourth place spot in the Central Division, and currently hold the second wild card spot and would make the playoffs if they started today. The Jets are currently tied with the Pacific Division’s Los Angeles Kings, both clubs have 47 points in 40 games played. The Arizona Coyotes are the fourth worst team in all of the NHL (27th with 34 points) and currently sit in second last place in the Pacific Division, the Oilers are the worst with 27 points. The Coyotes took a beating in their last game, suffering a 6-0 loss via the St. Louis Blues; this was the second time in just three games that the Coyotes were blanked by a score of 6-0. Arizona also lost by 6 goals against Vancouver back on December 22nd, a 7-1 loss. The Coyotes have allowed an average of 3.40 goals against per game over their last 10 games, while managing to score just 2.40 goals per game across that span. The Jets offense has been
sensational over their last 10 games, and face this struggling Coyotes defense tonight. Winnipeg has managed 3.10 goals per game over their last 10 games, and have a very impressive 27.3 PP% over their last 10 games. The Coyotes have gone just 65.7% on the penalty kill (last 10 games), and own the worst penalty kill in the entire NHL at 73.8%. The Jets are ranked 7th overall on the penalty kill at 85.1%, and are 86.7% L10. Ondrej Pavelec is probable for Winnipeg tonight and will get his first start of the New Year against Arizona tonight. Ondrej is 10-9-5 on the season with a 2.40 GAA and a .911 SV%. Devan Dubnyk is listed as probable for the Coyotes tonight and allowed six goals on thirty one shots against Dallas on New Years Eve. Devan has gone 9-4-2 this season with a 2.70 GAA and a .918 SV%. Martin Hanzal (fourth in points for Arizona with 22 points) is questionable tonight and may miss the game due to an upper body injury. The
Winnipeg Jets aren’t offensive powerhouses by any means but the Coyotes are the third worst team on defense (3.28 GA/GP) and have lost by six goals on three separate occasions over their last 10 games, two of which were shutouts. The Jets are in playoff contention and won’t want to miss another two points tonight after losing 3-2 to San Jose on Monday. Take the Jets to defeat the Coyotes for the second time this season.
