The Predators are coming off of an overtime win against Los Angeles yesterday, (we had the Predators as dogs), the game was jam-packed with scoring and ended with a total of 13 goals (7-6 Nashville). Tonights game will feature two of the NHL’s finest, as the Ducks currently lead the entire NHL in points with 56 (in 40 games), while the Predators are currently 3rd overall in the league standings with 53 points, across 37 games. The Ducks have three games on the Predators (6 potential points for Nashville), which means the Predators could easily be the NHL’s number 1 team right now. Pekka Rinne faced 30 shots from Los Angeles yesterday and allowed 6 goals against, finishing the contest with a .800 save percentage. Carter Hutton will likely get the nod for Nashville tonight, and is 0-3-1 on the season, with a .895 save percentage, accompanied by a 2.74 goals against average. The Nashville offense has been electric as of late, earning an average of 3.90 goals per game over their last 10 games, but their defense has been struggling, as they have allowed an average of 2.90 goals against per game over their last 10 games. Anaheim has been just about average over their last 10 games, scoring just 2.40 G/GP while allowing 2.60 GA/GP. The Ducks will need to step things up tonight if they are going to outscore this hot Nashville offense. The Predators road penalty kill isn’t the greatest, as they are 76.8% on the penalty kill when playing away from home this season. The Ducks have been struggling on the penalty kill recently, having gone just 75.8% on the penalty kill over their last 10 games. The Nashville power play is 21.1% over their last 10 games. Frederik Andersen is probable for Anaheim tonight and is 21-6-5 season-to-date with a 2.31 GAA and a .917 SV%. The total has gone over in each of the Predators last 5 games following a win, and each of the last four meetings between these clubs has gone over the total. The last game that actually stayed under the total was six games ago, back on Jan 26, 2013; the game ended with a 5 goal total and would’ve been a “push” on 5 goals, but the game was considered an “under” as the line was set at 5.5 goals. This should be a great game between two of the best teams in the NHL right now, we should see lots of scoring between the Ducks and Predators to send this one OVER 5 goals.
Bonus WJHC (U20) Picks:
