The Red Wings held a 4-1 lead over the Wild heading into the third, it looked like Detroit had the game in the bag. Then the Wild came out and score three goals in the third to tie the game at four and send the game to extra minutes! Detroit won in a shootout, but spoiled our play on them in regulation time.
To add to the frustration, our system pick ends up just one goal shy of going over the total. A total of 75 shots on goal in that game and it still manages to stay under. The odds dropped significantly on that one also, as Greiss was announced to start instead of Fleury later in the day. Last night snapped our 5-0, 12.47 unit win streak.
Today is the final day of hockey for the NHL all star break, lets get right back on the winning track tonight. Note that Regular games do not resume until Tuesday, Jan 27th! The Skills Competition is Saturday, Jan 24th, and the All Star Game is Sunday, January 25th.
Two picks tonight, another regulation time wager and a system pick.

Another sensational price on Calgary tonight. We earned 3.06 units of profit on Monday with the Flames defeating the Kings in overtime. The Flames +0.5 in regulation time means that they don’t even have to win the game tonight! As long as Calgary makes it to overtime, we win this bet. Calgary can, of course, win the game also. Say the game was tied 2-2 after 60 minutes. For betting purposes the Flames become 2.5 vs Anaheim 2, we win because of the half of a point. I know this is obvious news to some of you, but for others it isn’t so we want everyone to know exactly what they are betting on. The Flames have won four in a row, but two of those four victories required overtime. This is precisely why this wager is so important tonight. The Anaheim Ducks have won seven of their last ten games, but note that four of those seven wins required extra minutes. Also note that one of the Ducks three losses in their last ten games came in a
shootout, so the Ducks have gone to overtime or a shootout a total of five times in their last ten games (50% of the time). Joni Ortio continues to impress, having gone 4-0 with the Calgary Flames since being called up from the AHL. Joni has an incredible 1.23 goals against average, and a .958 save percentage. It’s no surprise that Joni has been confirmed to start in goal for the Flames tonight. I know we don’t have a huge sample size yet with just four games but we have seen four solid performances from this 23 year old. He stopped 33 of 34 shots against Los Angeles on Monday to finish with a .971 save percentage. The Calgary offense is scoring an average of 2.90 goals per game over their last 10 games, while their defense remains very tight allowing just 2.10 goals against per game. The Ducks share similar numbers, as they’ve allowed just 2.20 goals against per game over their last 10 games, while scoring 2.60 goals per game. Both
clubs share similar numbers on their special teams, as Calgary has a 16.8 PP% (22nd) while Anaheim is 17th on the man advantage with a 17.9 PP%. The Flames are still in playoff contention, currently in the second wild card spot in the Western Conference with 53 points in 46 games played. Every game is crucial for Calgary as they have a lot of teams hot on their trail; the Kings currently trail by just 1 point as of today. Anaheim is the number 1 team in the league right now with 66 points in 46 games, but a victory over the Flames won’t come easily tonight. Frederik Andersen is probable for Anaheim tonight and he is 25-6-5 on the season with a 2.28 GAA and a .918 SV%. The Flames just need to make it into extra minutes tonight, or can win the game. The Ducks have seen extra minutes in 50% of their last 10 games, the Flames have won each of their last two in overtime. This one has the potential to be a low scoring game, considering
either team has solid defense with impressive goaltending. I will not be surprised if this game will indeed require extra minutes. Note that the Flames have won each of their last five road games, have won four games in a row, and have won six of their last seven games following a win. Take this generous price on the Flames +0.5 in regulation time tonight.
