Tonights NHL Picks January 15th 2015

1-0 last night cashing our 4 unit play on the Canadiens to defeat the Blue Jackets for a gain of 3.36 Units.

Man it looked like we were en route for a loss with just 10 minutes left in the third. In case you missed the game, the Blue Jackets scored on (literally) their first shot of the game, which was the only goal on the board until 9:38 of the third when Ryan Johansen scored for Columbus making it a 2-0 lead with about half of the third period left.

The Canadiens were awarded three power plays in the second half of the third and capitalized on each one, scoring three goals in less than four minutes to win the game 3-2!

It was a great effort by Montreal, they outplayed the Blue Jackets all game and nearly doubled them in shots (31-16).
Lots of action in the League tonight with 10 games, we have two picks going:
Winnipeg Jets @ Dallas Stars: OVER 5.5 Goals 1.83

Risk: 2 Units | Win: 1.66 Units

The Winnipeg Jets are seeing plenty of scoring in their neck of the woods, as their most recent game ended with a 10 goal total, a 8-2 Jets victory over the Florida Panthers. That was the third game in a row to go over the total for Winnipeg, with a combined 28 goals across those three games, an average of 9.33 goals per game on the scoreboard. The Dallas Stars are also seeing plenty of goals for and against, as Dallas is coming off of a 5-4 victory over the Senators which was the seventh game in the last ten for the Stars that has gone over the total. Both clubs have allowed exactly 3.00 goals against per game over their last 10 games which is no surprise for Dallas as they are 28th overall on defense with 3.29 goals against per game. The Jets are 8th overall on defense (2.43 GA/GP) but are allowing plenty of goals right now, at least four goals per game in four of their last five games. The Jets have scored an average of 3.70 goalsĀ per game across their last 10 games, while the Stars scored 3.60 goals per game during that span. Dallas ranks 24th overall on the penalty kill (78.6%) which has been even worse over their last 10 games, earning a 76.5% rate on the penalty kill. The Jets are 82.8% on the penalty kill (9th) but have gone just 77.1% over their last 10 games. The Jets allowed Anaheim to score on 2 of 5 opportunities on Sunday, and allowed 2 goals on 6 opportunities against Los Angeles on Saturday, and 3 of 5 against Arizona one week ago today. The Winnipeg power play unit is looking good, as they went 2 for 3 against Florida in their 8-2 victory on Tuesday, and also went 2 for 3 on the power play on two separate occasions over their last 10 games. This hot Winnipeg power play will get it’s chance against one of the worst penalty kill units in the NHL tonight. It is no surprise that the Jets have had a 25.6% success rate on the man advantage over theirĀ last 10 games. The “over” is 7-0 (with 1 push) in the Jets’ last 8 games versus a central division opponent, 3-0 (with 2 pushes) in their last five games following a win. Each of the last four home games for the Stars have gone over the total, and 8 of their last 9 games against Central division opponents have gone over the total. The two clubs met once this season back on December 9th and ended with a total of 7 goals in a 5-2 Winnipeg victory. Ondrej Pavelec is probable for Winnipeg tonight and has lost each of his last four starts and allowed a combined 13 goals in his last three appearances. Ondrej is 10-10-6 on the season and has a 2.52 GAA and a .909 save percentage. Kari Lehtonen will likely get the nod for Dallas tonight and has gone 17-9-7 this season with a 2.95 GAA and a .904 save percentage. If each club continues to play the way they have been, there is a great chance that this one will go OVER 5.5 goals tonight in Dallas.
