Tonights NHL Picks February 7th 2015

As we await tonight’s result on the Ducks we have two locked in for tomorrow. Note that the system pick starts at 3:00 ET, between the Rangers and Predators.

New York Islanders @ Boston Bruins: ISLANDERS 2.23

Risk: 2 Units | Win: 2.46 Units

These clubs will meet for a third time this season on Saturday, New York won the first game 3-2, while Boston emerged victorious by a score of 5-2 on Jan. 29th. The Islanders managed 45 shots on Rask in that 5-2 loss, Rask finished with a .956 save percentage stopping 43 of the 45 shots against him. New York will be out for revenge on Saturday, and will look for their fourth win in a row against the Bruins when playing at the TD Garden. The Isles lead the Metropolitan Division with 67 points, while the Bruins are 4th in the Atlantic Division and if the playoffs started today they would just make it in, as they currently have the second available wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with 61 points. The New York Islanders are 16-11-0-1 on the road this season (33-17-0-1 overall) while the Bruins are 16-7-2-2 at Home, and 27-17-2-5 overall. The Islanders are 4th overall on offense with 3.06 goals per game, and have scored 3.60 goals
per game over their last ten games. Note that the Isles are second overall in shots per game with 33.2 S/GP, and rank third overall in winning percentage when out-shooting opponents with a .730 OS%. This hot offense will meet the Boston defense that is ranked 6th overall, allowing just 2.39 goals against per game. The Bruins offense ranks just 21st overall with 2.63 goals per game while the Islanders defense is 23rd overall (2.82 GA/GP). The Islanders rank 11th overall on the power play with a 19.4 PP% while Boston is 7th on the penalty kill at 83.3%. The Islanders have the worst penalty kill in the NHL (72.9%) so discipline is key against the Bruins. During the 5-2 loss on Jan. 29th the Isles gave up just one minor penalty but did allow a goal on it. Jaroslav Halak is probable for New York and is 27-11-0 on the season with a 2.42 GAA and a .911 SV% (4 SO), while Rask is probable for Boston with a record of 22-12-7, accompanied by a
2.33 GAA and a .921 SV% (2 SO). The Islanders are one of the best in the NHL this season and even with their three game skid they rank 7th overall in League standings as of today. This is a great price on the Islanders against Boston.
