Tonights NHL Picks February 16th 2015

We went 1-1 on Saturday with the Preds covering the puck line against the Devils, the Caps couldn’t defeat the Kings losing 3-1. A profit of 0.40 units on Saturday.

We had one system pick on Sunday, the Penguins lost in a shootout. Towes, Kane, and Sharp all scored for Chicago, Perron and Crosby found the back of the net for Pittsburgh but Letang came up short. Both goalies played exceptionally well, allowing just two goals on a combined 69 shots between them.

One pick going tonight between two of the hottest offenses in the League:

New York Rangers @ New York Islanders: OVER 5.5 Goals 2.12

Risk: 2 Units | Win: 2.24 Units

Two of the highest scoring teams in the NHL will clash tonight in the battle of New York. The Rangers are third overall on offense with 3.07 goals per game and have scored 3.40 goals per game over their last 10 games. The Rangers have won three in a row, each of those three games went over the total, the Rangers scored a combined 16 goals during those three games, an average of 5.33 goals per game. The Islanders are scoring 3.07 goals per game overall just like the Rangers are, and have won four games in a row, scoring exactly three goals per game in three of those games, and six in the latest, a 6-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. That’s a combined 15 goals in 4 games, an average of 3.75 goals per game during their four game winning streak. Each of the last ten Islanders games has either gone over the 5.5 goal total, or has ended with exactly five goals, with the exception of a 1-2 loss to the Bruins back on
February 7th. The Islanders are an impressive 20-6-0 at Home this season and are scoring an average of 3.58 goals per game when playing at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum this season. The Rangers aren’t afraid to score when playing on the road, as New York has scored an average of 3.15 goals per game when playing on the road this season. The New York Islanders still have the worst penalty kill in the NHL that is successful just 73.6% of the time, and will face the 9th overall New York Rangers power play unit that is 20.0% overall, and 25% on the man advantage over their last ten games. Note that the Islanders penalty kill unit was successful just 69.2% of the time over their last 10 games. Lundqvist is still out of the line up for the Rangers with his neck injury so Cam Talbot is probable for the Rangers this evening. Cam won each of his last three starts but had a sub .900 save percentage in two of those three contests, allowing
4 goals on 34 shots against Toronto (.882 SV%), and 3 goals on 29 shots against Colorado (.897 SV%). Cam stopped 34 of 35 shots against Arizona on Saturday but the game still went over the total in a 5-1 Rangers victory. Cam is 8-5-2 with the Rangers this season with a 2.35 GAA and a .918 SV%. Jaroslav Halak is probable for the Isles tonight with a record of 31-11-0, a 2.40 GAA and a .912 SV%. Both clubs have exceptional offenses that are scoring lots of goals, this game will likely be fast paced with lots of scoring between these two offenses powerhouses. Take this plus-money price on the Over tonight in New York.
