Tonights NHL Picks December 31st 2014

Happy New Years Eve!
1-1 again last night, still profitable though as we picked up 0.46 units with the winner on Vancouver. The Canucks were offered at 2.40+ throughout the day yesterday so hopefully you got an even better price on Vancouver than we did.
The Blues gave up their 2-1 lead late in the 2nd and the Predators came back and won 3-2.
Lots of action in the NHL tonight as well as the World Jr U20 Championships in Toronto/Montreal.
We are sticking with one play in the NHL as well as one in the WJHC.
Edmonton Oilers @ Calgary Flames: FLAMES in regulation 1.87
Risk: 2 Units | Win: 1.74 Units
The Oilers are playing on no rest tonight after finding a 3-2 shootout victory over the Los Angeles Kings last night. The Edmonton Oilers are the worst team in the entire NHL with a mere 23 points, and have won just 8 games this season. They’ve won only twice in their last 22 games, and are 8-22-5-2 on the season, 2-10-4-1 on the road. Edmonton is the fourth worst team in the league when it comes to scoring, with an average of 2.11 goals per game, and have scored just 1.80 goals per game over their last 10 games. It isn’t much of a shock that the Oilers have the second worst power play in the League, at 11.7% (Buffalo is last with 8.6%). The Oilers defense is the worst in the NHL, as they allow an average of 3.38 goals against per game, and have allowed a combined 21 goals against across their last 5 games, an average of 4.2 GA/GP. The Flames earned a victory against Los Angeles their last time out (2-1), which was actually the second time Calgary beat Los Angeles in a weeks span. The Flames have won each of their last three games, which includes a 4-1 triumph over the Edmonton Oilers just four days ago. The Flames have won each of the last four meetings, dating back to March 2014. Only one of those games required extra minutes. Calgary is ranked 13th overall on offense with 2.82 goals per game, and are scoring an average of 2.94 goals per game when playing at the Saddledome this season. Alternatively, the Oilers are allowing a whopping 3.53 goals against per game when playing on the road. The Oilers have a 4.7% road power play unit, which is good news for the Flames as their penalty kill isn’t the greatest (26th overall 77.3%). The Flames and Oilers met twice this season, Calgary won both games and outscored the Oilers 9-3. Jonas Hiller is confirmed to start for Calgary tonight and is 12-10-2 on the season with a 2.29 GAA and a .919 SV%. Ben Scrivens is listed as the probable starter for Edmonton tonight and if he starts he will be playing back-to-back games after facing 39 shots against Los Angeles last night. Ben is 6-13-5 with a 3.10 GAA and a .895 SV%. The Oilers are playing on no rest and are the worst team in the NHL, and have won just twice in their last twenty-two games. Take the Flames to win in regulation time tonight.

Bonus WJHC (U20) Pick:
Game starts at 4:00 ET.  Our selection on Canada -1 means that if they win by exactly 1 goal it is a “push”, and if they win by more than 1 goal we have ourselves a winner!
Canada (U20) (-1) 2.17  vs USA (U20)
Have a great New Years Eve!
