Dallas Stars @ Toronto Maple Leafs: OVER 6 GOALS 2.00
Risk: 2 Units | Win: 2 Units
The Stars and Leafs will clash in Toronto tonight for the first time this season. The 3rd best offense in the NHL belongs to the Maple Leafs with 3.30 goals per game played, they will face the worst defense in the NHL which belongs to the Dallas Stars, allowing 3.46 goals against per game played. The Leafs put six goals on the board in their 6-2 victory over Washington on Saturday. Eight of the last ten games for the Leafs have gone over the total, and the over/under is 13-10 for Toronto this season. The Stars have lost two in a row, allowing 5 goals in each contest; a 5-4 OT loss to Minnesota on Friday, as well as a 5-2 loss via the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.  The Dallas offense is 10th overall as of today, scoring 2.88 goals per game played on average, but have scored 3.00 goals per game over their last 10 games,  while allowing 3.40 GA/GP over their last 10. The Leafs defense is allowing 2.96 goals against per game played on average, and have allowed just as many goals over their past 10 games as the Stars have, which is 3.40 GA/GP across their last 10 games. Note though that the Leafs offense has been sensational over their last 10 games, scoring 3.90 goals per game played. The Leafs power play is ranked 11th overall at 21.2%, and have gone 22.6% on the man advantage at the Air Canada Center this season. Dallas is 22nd overall on the penalty kill (78.6%) and 23rd overall on the power play (14.5%). Jonathan Bernier is probable for the Leafs tonight and is 8-5-3 on the season with a 2.59 GAA and a .917 SV%. Bernier has won three of his past four starts, and three of those four games went over the total. The “over” is 6-1 for the Stars over their last 7 following a loss of three or more goals, and the “over” is 5-1 for Dallas over their last 6 after allowing 5+ goals in their previous game. Five of the last six games for the Leafs have gone over the total, 9 of their last 11 games against the Central division have gone over the total, and the over is also 4-1 for Toronto over their last 5 when an opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. We should see lots of goals scored in Toronto tonight.
