A 2-0 night last night as both of our underdog picks come through and we pick up 4.52 units. There was great hockey being played in Toronto last night and there were plenty of scoring chances for both teams. Hats off to both goaltenders as they did an amazing job stopping most of the shots. If Colorado and Toronto continue to play the kind of hockey they played last night, they should have a very decent shot at the Cup this year. With 3 games tonight we have one 3-unit pick:
(3-Units) Montreal Canadiens @ Calgary Flames: Over 5.5 Goals 1.86 BetOnline
Carey Price and Joey MacDonald have both been confirmed to start in goal tonight. So far this season Price is 1-1-0 with a 2.52 GAA and a .918 SV%. When Carey faced Philadelphia on Oct.5 he allowed only 1 goal, but the Flyers only managed to put only 23 shots on net. In this same game the Habs offense scored 4 goals. Against the offensive powerhouse that is the Toronto Maple Leafs in the season opener last Tuesday, Price allowed 4 goals on 38 shots (.895 SV%), and the Canadiens put 3 goals on the board. Montreal’s offense have been averaging 3.5 goals per game, and they are facing a goaltender tonight who is allowing an average of 3.93 Goals Against. Also note that the Calgary Flames have managed an average of 4.00 Goals For per game, but also have been allowing (an average of) 4 goals against per game. Both the Canadiens and Flames currently sit 4th and 5th in the Shots Per Game column at 35.5 shots (Canadiens) and 35.0 shots (Flames), and the Flames are tied for 3rd in Goals Per Game at 4. The Flames continue to do a great job of scoring goals but allow just as many as they score. If things continue the way they have been going, this game should have no problem soaring OVER 5.5 goals. Take this one for 3-units.
