October 19th 2013 Free NHL Picks

The Jets came back from a 3-1 deficit last night and scored 2 goals in the 3rd to tie the game and send it to overtime, and then a shootout where the Jets came out ahead. Another tough game to watch last night as the Blues lead the whole game and blew it and loss in the end.

NOTE: These are our selections so far to today. There will be NO WRITE-UPS for these picks as one of these selections starts in a few hours. We had to get these picks out ASAP. If there are any other added picks we see value in later today they will be sent out. If not, enjoy these selections and a great Saturday full of hockey!

New York Rangers at New Jersey Devils: Over 5 Goals 1.91 BetOnline

These two teams haven’t been scoring many goals against their opponents, as the Rangers sit at an average of 1.83 Goals/Game and the Devils at 1.86 Goals/Game. However, neither team has much of a defense, and between these two teams they are allowing an average of 7.6 goals against/game. The New York Rangers allow an average of 4.17 goals against/game and the Devils are not far behind at 3.43 GA/G. The Devils are the only team without a win right now (0-4-3) but that’s not to say they haven’t come close. 3 of 7 Devils games have gone to OT (where they have lost all of them). Five out of Seven Devils games this season have at least tied 5 goals or have gone over 5 goals. The only two games that didn’t go over were against the Jets and Pens, and the Devils couldn’t put any points on the board in either of those games.  Four out of Six games for the New York Rangers have at least tied 5 goals or have gone over. We have no confirmed goaltender for the Rangers yet, but Cory Schneider is confirmed to start for New Jersey. Cory currently sits with a 2.65 GAA and a .908 SV%. Henrik Lundqvist is probable for the Rangers, and his record is currently 2-3-0 with a 3.33 GAA and a .902 SV%. Martin Biron is the other option for New York, he has allowed an average of 7.61 goals against and has a .763 SV%. As long as these teams can get a little offense going, we shouldn’t have a problem cashing this one, or at least gaining a “push” at exactly 5 goals.

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Chicago Blackhawks: Maple Leafs 2.65 BetOnline

What excellent odds we are receiving here on the Maple leafs tonight. The Leafs (6-2-0) have won all three road games this season, and the Blackhawks (4-1-2) have gone 3-0-2 at home. The Leafs offense are doing great for themselves, averaging 3.50 goals/game. The Blackhawks offense are scoring a little over 2 goals per game (2.67 G/G). Corey Crawford is confirmed to start in goal tonight for Chicago. Corey has a 2.25 GAA and a .919 SV%. Bernier is probable in goal for the Leafs tonight, especially since Reimer got injured in the first minute of play against Carolina, and is day-to-day (so far). This same type of injury happened to him a couple years back and he was dealing with issues for months after his collision with Brian Gionta. Reimers injury may end up being more serious and may require him to miss more time than expected. Jonathan Bernier has been the better goaltender so far this season, with a 1.98 GAA, and a save percentage of .940. Reimer has been allowing an average of 3.18 GA, and has a .917 SV%. The Leafs have the better powerplay, as they are successful 29% of the time, compared to a 18.5% success rate for the Blackhawks. The Maple Leafs also beat Chicago when it comes to the Penalty Kill, the Leafs manage to kill 87.1% of their opponents powerplays, and the Blackhawks manage to 71.4% of the time. We will stick with the visiting Maple Leafs tonight in Chicago, where we are getting an exceptional price on them.
