October 15th 2013 Free NHL Picks

We pick another winner last night with the OVER in the Capitals/Oilers game. With a busy schedule tonight we have 3 picks that provide great value:

Edmonton Oilers @ Pittsburgh Penguins: Penguins Team Total Over 3.5 2.04 BetOnline

The Penguins are averaging 4.00 goals for per game, and face an Oilers squad who is playing on zero days rest, after a 4-2 loss in Washington last evening. The Oilers as a team are allowing an average of 4.83 goals against per game, and the probable starter tonight for the Oilers Devan Dubnyk, is allowing an average of 5.43 goals against/game and has a save percentage of .829%. The Penguins are well rested as their last game was against Tampa Bay on Saturday where they managed to score 5 goals against a team who have a much better defense than the Oilers. Also note that the Oilers allowed a struggling Capitals team to score 4 goals against them last night. We will stick with the Penguins team total over 3.5 goals tonight in Pittsburgh.

Montreal Canadiens @ Winnipeg Jets Over 5.5 2.04 BetOnline

We will take the OVER here for plus money. We have both Carey Price and Ondrej Pavelec confirmed in goal tonight in Winnipeg. Pavelec has been allowing an average of 3.25 goals against/game and his team has been allowing 2.67 goals against/game. An interesting statistic about tonight’s game is that P.K. Subban, Alex Galchenyuk (both Montreal),  Dustin Byfuglien and Tobias Enstrom (both Winnipeg) make up 4 of the 6 players currently tied for second place in the “assists” column at 6 assists each. They were each actually tied for 1st place in assists up until yesterday when Nicklas Backstrom (Washington Capitals) gained 3 assists in yesterdays game against Edmonton. We also have a Montreal offense who are managing to score (an average of) 3.40 goals/game, and a defense that allows 2.00 goals against. Carey Price has been off to an okay start, he currently sits with a 2.27 GAA and a .929 SV%. Also take note to the fact that Montreal is average 20 penalty minutes each game, which is really 1/3 of the game: “1 period” with a player in the box. 20 penalty minutes per game is way too many penalties to be taking, and we look for the Jets to capitalize on a few powerplay chances tonight. Nothing about this game “screams the over”, but that is precisely why it pays so well. Lets stick with the OVER tonight for plus money.

Dallas Stars @ Colorodo Avalanche: Avalanche -1.5 (Puck Line) 2.70 BetOnline

Who could bet against the Avalanche right now? They are RED HOT and have gone 5-0 so far this season, are managing to put up an average of 3.6 goals/game which is impressive, but what is even more impressive is the fact that they are allowing LESS THAN 1 goal/game (.80 GA/G). The Avalanche will stick with Semyon Varlamov in goal tonight (confirmed). Semyon has gone 4-0-0, with a very impressive 1.00 GAA and a .970 SV%. On the other end of the ice we have Dan Ellis confirmed in goal for the Stars. Dan is 0-1-0 and has allowed 6 goals on 59 shots, for a GAA of 4.24 and a .898 SV%. The Stars defense are allowing 2.75 goals against/game, and their offense are managing to score 2.25 goals/game. The Avalanche are 100% on the Penalty kill and face a Dallas power play unit whom has only a 23.1 % success rate on the PP. We will gladly back an Avalanche team who has impressed us all so far this season, who can score goals and can also stop goals from reaching their own mesh, which is exactly why they should be able to cover the puck line tonight in front of a home crowd.
