October 11th 2013 Free NHL Picks

We go 2-2 last night for a profit of 0.8 units. The Leafs had no problem taking care of the Preds (4-0) and Carolina managed to beat Washington (3-2) in what was a close game. Our added play on the Florida/Tampa under wasn’t successful as Tampa managed to put a shocking 7 goals on the board. Buffalo clearly hasn’t changed their style one bit only scoring 1 goal and losing 4-1. There are 3 picks for tonight and we have two picks on the same game:

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Florida Panthers: Penguins -1.5 (Puck Line) 2.55 & Penguins Team Total OVER 3.5 Goals 2.30 (Both @ BetOnline)

We will have two separate picks for this game. This is NOT a parlay. We will go with the Pens Puck Line and also the Pens to score over 3.5 goals. If your sports book does not offer this type of bet, head over to BetOnline.ag. You can find it under “hockey”, then “NHL”, and it will be listed beside the Game Total. The Florida Panthers (1-3-0) are playing on 0 days rest as they got annihilated 7-2 last night by the Tampa Bay Lightning. Pittsburgh have won each of their first 3 games this season (by 3 goals) and are well rested as their last game was Tuesday against the Hurricanes. The Penguins offense are managing to average 4.00 goals per game. Florida brought Tim Thomas to the team in hopes of having a solid starting goaltender: however he has been terrible thus far, and he is currently sitting out with a groin injury. Currently sitting at a 5.05 GAA and a low .850 SV% Thomas has been anything but great. The other two goaltenders for Florida haven’t been the greatest either, as Markstrom currently has 8 goals allowed on 55 shots for a GAA of 3.93 and a save percentage of .855. Scott Clemmensen is the probable starter for the Panthers tonight, and his record is also disappointing, at 5.45 GAA: He has allowed 1 goal on 4 shots! Nothing has been going right for the Panthers this season. The Penguins will go with Jeff Zatkoff tonight, he is confirmed to start in goal. Zatkoff hasn’t played yet this season and is on the roster because Tomas Vokoun is out after undergoing surgery to treat a blood clot in his pelvis. We will take the The Penguins -1.5 & the Penguins Total Goals Over 3.5 as they should have no problem doing what they do best: scoring goals.

New Jersey Devils @ Calgary Flames: Over 5.5 Goals 2.10 BetOnline

We will go with the over here tonight as the Devils meet the Flames in Calgary. The Devils are doing a good job at maintaining an early lead: but end up blowing the game and allowing the total goals to pile up. If you remember from our Devils/Oilers pick, the Devils were leading 3-0 into the 3rd, and gave up the lead and lost the game in a shootout as the game ended 5-4. In the past 3 games, New Jersey has held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 against the New York Islanders, 3-0 against the Edmonton Oilers and 2-0 against the Vancouver Canucks and have lost every one of those games and are still win less. Martin Brodeur is confirmed to start in goal and has lost both of his starts this season allowing an average of 3.23 G/G (.868 SV%) which is similar to the Devils goals against average of 3.25. The Devils haven’t yet secured a win this season (0-1-3)  but 3 of their 4 games have made it to overtime and have resulted in a loss. We have Joey MacDonald confirmed in goal for the Flames and he is  2-0-1 with a 3.30 GAA and a save percentage of .895. The Flames offense are managing an average of 3.75 goals a game but are also allowing 3.5 goals. Lets stick with the OVER tonight in Calgary for plus money.
