We have two picks for tonight, both of them are FREE!

New Jersey Devils @ Anaheim Ducks: Devils 2.58

The Devils have a lot better of a shot at winning this one than the price indicates. This is an exceptional price for the Devils against a struggling Ducks team. The Anaheim Ducks are a perfect 8-0 at home, but have lost their last four games (all on the road) and have scored only 6 goals in those 4 games which is an average of 1.5 goals per game. This is a far cry from the Ducks overall¬† goals per game average of 3.09 G/G. Not only are the Ducks struggling to score as of late, they are really struggling with their special teams. The Ducks have the 3rd worst penalty kill unit in the League with a 76.4 PK%. The Devils are much better with their PK unit, as they are the 3rd best in the NHL on the power play with their 86.8 PP%. The Anaheim power play is none too good, as it is the 4th worst in the League (11.5 PP%). The Ducks also take more penalties than the Devils, with 9.9 penalty minutes per game compared to the Devils 7.9 PIM/G. The Devils defense is als o tighter than Anaheim’s, as the Devils allow only 2.25 goals per game, compared to the Ducks 2.48 goals against per game. Martin Brodeur has been confirmed to start for the Devils tonight. He has been playing great as of late and currently allows less than 2 goals per game (1.98 GAA) and has a .919SV%. Also note that Marty has won 6 of his last 7 starts, allowing only 5 goals (on 138 shots) in his last 6 games. We are going to stick with the Devils tonight for this great price and we will look for them to end the Ducks perfect 8-0 streak at home.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Washington Capitals: Capitals 2.12

We go with yet another underdog selection tonight at a great price in the battle for the first place spot in the Metropolitan Division. The Washington Capitals are on a 3 game winning streak, scoring exactly 4 goals in each of their last 3 games, which includes a 4-1 win against the offensive powerhouse that is the St.Louis Blues. The Pittsburgh Penguins have lost all of their last 3 games on the road, (and 4 of their last 6 games overall) scoring only 1 goal per game in their last 3 games on the road. The Capitals have been better than the Penguins on the offense so far this season, with 3.05 goals per game, compared to the Penguins average of 2.76 G/G. These two teams are neck and neck for the number 1 spot in the Metropolitan division, with the Penguins sitting at 1st with 26 points and the Capitals just behind them with 25 points. A win tonight will give the Capitals the 2 points they need to gain the first place spot in their division and a 1 point lead on the Penguins. When playing on the road, the Penguins score even fewer goals, (2.44 G/G Away) and allow even more goals, 3.00 goals against per game when away (compared to their overall average of 2.29 GA/G). The Capitals score 3.00 goals per game when playing at home, and their defensive numbers are slightly better when at home as their goals against decreases from 2.76 GA/G (overall) to 2.45 GA (playing at home). Also note that over their last 10 games the Capitals are averaging 3.40 goals per game and the Penguins are managing to score exactly 1 goal less than that, with 2.40 goals per game over their L10 games. This game will without a doubt be a very close game and will be one you will want to watch. We will gladly back the Capitals as home dogs tonight in Washington for a great price.
