New York Rangers @ Chicago Blackhawks: OVER 5.5 Goals 2.00

The New York Rangers offense has really picked up over their last few games, which includes a 7-1 pounding of the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday night. The Rangers have scored 12 goals across their last 3 games, an average of 4.00 goals per game, while they have allowed 10 goals in that span, an average of 3.33 goals against per game. This is a nice change for the Rangers, as they are 24th overall for scoring with a mere 2.39 goals per game, although across their last 10 games the Rangers have managed to average 3.00 goals per game. The Rangers defense ranks 15th overall, allowing 2.66 goals against per game. When playing on the road, the Rangers are allowing 2.74 goals against per game. The New York power play ranks 8th overall at 20.7%, although across their 23 away games this season the Rangers have maintained an exceptional 25.0% road power play. This hot road power play will meet the 3rd worst penalty kill in the NHL tonight, which belongs to the Chicago Blackhawks at 76.9%. The Blackhawks will need to be careful, as the Rangers have had a 33.33% success rate on the power play in their last 2 games (2/6 vs Columbus, 1/3 vs Toronto). As you probably know by now, the Blackhawks are (and have been) the highest scoring team in the NHL, scoring 3.62 goals per game overall. The St.Louis Blues are catching up, currently sitting 2nd with 3.60 G/G. The Blackhawks allow 2.62 goals against per game overall, which currently ranks 13th. We mentioned the Blackhawks own the 2nd worst power play in the League, however they also possess the 4th best power play that converts 24.3% of the time. The most recent game for the Blackhawks managed to stay under the total (3-2 SO loss to San Jose), although Chicago fired 35 shots on goal while the Sharks took 42 shots against Crawford. It was a good night for Crawford as he finished the game with a.952 SV%, although Crawford has a 2.47 GAA, and a .910 SV%. Crawford has been confirmed as the starter tonight for Chicago. Speaking of shots, the Blackhawks currently sit 3rd in the shot department, taking 33.1 shots per game on average, while the Rangers rank 6th, with 32.1 shots per game. We don’t have a confirmed starter for New York although Henrik Lundqvist is probable with his 2.78 GAA and .906 SV%. The Blackhawks are an “over” team, as they have had 25 games go “over” the total this season, while 20 remained under. The Rangers are 19-17 over/under. The Rangers have had all 4 games go over the total when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game, while the Blackhawks have had 7 of 8 games go over the total when they score 2 goals or less in their previous game. To get this over at an even money price provides exceptional value for us, and we will look to capitalize on it tonight.
