January 27th 2014 Expert NHL Picks

A perfect end to a perfect weekend last night as the Jets rally back and beat the Blackhawks 3-1 to cash a HUGE underdog winner for us. We picked up 4.20 units with the Jets last night, and add a total of 8.40 units to the bankroll this weekend.

We have one play going for tonight, another plus-money play we will look to capitalize on:

Buffalo Sabres @ Pittsburgh Penguins: OVER 5.5 Goals 2.11

The Buffalo Sabres continue to score goals, putting 5 goals on the board against Columbus on Saturday for a 5-2 victory. The win against the Blue Jackets marked the 6th straight “over” in a row for the Sabres. The Penguins faced a tough 3-0 loss against the Stars on Saturday, but before that the Penguins had 4 games in a row go “over” the total, and 8 of their last 10 games overall. The Pittsburgh offense is scoring 3.60 goals per game over their last 10 games, while their defense remains to struggle, allowing 3.20 goals against per game over their last 10 games. The Penguins sit 4th overall for scoring with 3.15 goals per game. The Sabres offense remains the worst in the NHL with 1.82 goals per game overall, however they have managed to score 5 goals against Columbus on Saturday, and exactly 3 goals per game in each of their last five games prior to their meeting with the Blue Jackets. The Penguins have a sensational home power play that converts 25% of the time, and own the 1st place spot on the power play overall with a 24.4 PP%. The last seven Home games for the Penguins have all gone over the total; we have seen totals of 6,6,7,11,7,7,7 for a combined total of 51 goals in 7 games, an average of 7.29 total goals per game. The Sabres defense is ranked 17th overall as they allow 2.80 goals against per game, and allow the 2nd most shots against with 34.0 SA/G, while the Leafs still own the last place in shots against per game with 36.2 SA/G. Both offenses have been on fire as of late, while the defenses for each club have been under performing, especially the Penguins defense allowing 3.20 goals against per game over their last 10 games. We should see a lot of scoring in Pittsburgh tonight, we will take the OVER for a great price.
