January 21 2014 Expert NHL Picks

We cashed a huge underdog winner on the Maple Leafs to beat the Coyotes last night which they did in style with a 4-2 victory. The Sharks won against the Flames but couldn’t win by at least 2 goals making it a 1-1 night for us picking up .78 units. We have another underdog selection for tonight:

Florida Panthers @ Buffalo Sabres: PANTHERS 2.06

The Buffalo Sabres continue to lose hockey games, as they are on a 3 game losing streak where they were outscored 12-6 in those 3 losses. The struggling Buffalo club is now 13-27-7 on the season, and just 9-13-4 at Home. The Florida Panthers dominated the Pittsburgh Penguins last night, keeping one of the hottest offenses in the NHL to just 1 goal, while the Panthers managed to score 5 of their own, handing the Penguins their first home loss in over two months. This is the 2nd time the Panthers have beaten the Penguins this season, with the Penguins receiving just 1 victory of their own over the Panthers. The Buffalo Sabres are the worst offensive team in the NHL scoring just 1.70 goals per game while their defense is ranked 16th overall as they allow 2.74 goals against per game. The Sabres simply can’t score goals, and the Panthers kept the 4th best offense in the NHL to just 1 goal last night in a huge upset as they Panthers were huge underdogs (closed at 3.49). The Florida defense has been doing surprisingly well as of late, as they have allowed just 2.00 goals against per game over their last 10 games, which is almost as effective as the Kings 1st ranked defense (1.98 GA/G). The Panthers have had a 100% success rate on the penalty kill over their last 10 games, while the Sabres went just 19.4% on the power play, and are 13.5% on the power play overall (29th). We will gladly take the Panthers at a plus money price against one of the worst teams in the NHL, and will look for them to use the momentum from last nights victory to emerge victorious in Buffalo against the struggling Sabres.
