Tonights NHL Picks- February 26 2014

There’s four games on the board tonight and we have one pick going, plus a system pick that has been alerted.

(3 Units) Boston Bruins @ Buffalo Sabres: BRUINS in Regulation 1.76

The Buffalo Sabres were one of just two teams on the NHL schedule yesterday in a make up game versus the Carolina Hurricanes that was cancelled back on January 7th due to a snow storm. The Sabres defeated the Hurricanes last night by a score of 3-2, and must face the Bruins tonight on no rest. The Buffalo squad managed to take just 18 shots on goal last night against Cam Ward (finished with a .833 SV%), while the Hurricanes pounded the Sabres with 38 shots on Ryan Miller (.947 SV%). This is typical Sabres hockey. Miller will be taking the night off tonight, as the Sabres will be going with Jhonas Enroth in goal. Enroth has won just 1 game this season, and has lost 17 of them, 12 in regulation time and 5 which required extra minutes (1-12-5 overall). He has a .905 SV% (39th) and a 2.89 GAA (40th). If the Sabres allow as many shots on goal as they did last night against Carolina, Miller won’t be there to save them. The Buffalo defense is ranked 23rd overall allowing 2.93 goals per game, and have allowed 3.70 goals against per game over their last 10 games. The Buffalo offense ranks dead last in the NHL for goals with an embarrassing 1.84 goals per game. The Bruins are amongst the top 5 of the NHL’s highest scoring teams, currently ranked 5th overall with 3.07 goals per game, and have scored a blistering 4.00 goals per game over their last 10 games, while allowing just 2.00 GA/G over that span. Overall, the Bruins defense is the 2nd best in the NHL, allowing just 2.14 goals against per game. Tukka Rask played incredible in goal at the Olympics for Team Finland (Bronze Medal), and thus will be given the night off and Chad Johnson will step up for the Bruins tonight. Johson has an impressive record of 11-3-0, a .924 SV% and a 2.13 GAA. The Sabres were lucky to get by the Hurricanes last night, allowing more than double the shots against them as they could take themselves. The Sabres will be without Miller tonight, and are not likely going to get past the tough Bruins defense, and must also try to stop one of the best offenses in the NHL. We literally have the worst offense in the NHL taking on the 2nd best defense in the NHL. The Bruins should easily be able to walk away victorious in this one, and we will look for them to do it in 60 minutes tonight for 3 units.
