Philadelphia Flyers @ Columbus Blue Jackets: OVER 5.5 Goals 2.21

Wow, what an exceptional price on this over tonight in Columbus. This one provides excellent value for us. For starters, these two teams met on Thursday night and the game ended with a 9 goal total, with the Flyers coming back in a 5-4 victory. Naturally, just because that game went over the total doesn’t mean this game will, but the stats tell us it should. The Philadelphia Flyers offense is 22nd overall with 2.43 goals per game, but over their last 10 games the Flyers have managed to increase their scoring to 3.10 goals per game, while allowing 3.40 goals against per game in their last 10 games. The Flyers allow 2.69 goals against per game overall, which is 15th overall. Curtis McElhinney has been confirmed as the starter for the Blue Jackets tonight. Curtis also played in the game on Thursday, and allowed 5 goals against him on 39 shots for a .872 SV%. The Columbus defense ranks 21st overall, allowing 2.83 goals against per game. The Flyers are still taking the most penalties of any team in the League with 17.6 penalty minutes per game, while their penalty kill is 13th overall with an 83.1 PK%. When the Flyers play Away, their penalty kill is effective only 81.5% of the time. The Flyers gave the Blue Jackets 4 power play opportunities on Thursday but the Jackets couldn’t convert. The Blue Jackets have the 12th place power play (18.8 PP%) but their power play numbers are slightly better at Home (19% Home power play). The Flyers have had all of their last 3 games go over the total, with 25 total goals scored in those 3 games (average of 8.33 goals per game) and have had 7 of their last 10 games go over. There is no reason this game can’t go over the total again tonight and we are getting an unbelievable price on this over in Columbus and we will gladly take it for 2 units.

St.Louis Blues @ Edmonton Oilers: BLUES -1   2.10

*Note: You will have to adjust the puck line from -1.5 to -1. Not all sports books offer this option, so you may wish to grab the Blues in regulation time, or the Blues -1.5 instead. If the Blues win by exactly 1 goal, this will be a “push”.*

The Edmonton Oilers have lost 5 games in a row, and are only 11-23-3 on the season. It won’t get any easier for the Oilers tonight against on of the best teams in the NHL. The Blues are an impressive 23-7-4 on the season, and defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5-1 in their last outing. The Blues are the 2nd highest scoring team in the League with 3.41 goals per game and have scored 3.30 goals per game over their last 10 games. The Oilers are the worst defensive team in the NHL, allowing 3.40 goals against per game, while allowing the same amount of goals (3.40) over their last 10 games, while scoring a mere 2.40 goals per game in that span. The Oilers can only score 2.51 goals per game overall, which is 19th overall. The Blues have the 5th best power play in the NHL (22.0 PP%) and have the 7th best penalty kill unit that stops 85.0% of their opponents power plays. The Blues have an 89.8% road penalty kill. St.Louis will go with Brian Elliott in goal tonight (confirmed). Brian has had a good run this season, going 6-1-2 and has a 2.21 GAA and a .913 SV%. The Oilers are struggling to score goals right now, scoring 2 goals per game in three of their last five games, while scoring 0 goals in two of their last five. The Blues are a superior team and should have no problem defeating the struggling Oilers tonight to hand them their 6th straight loss in a row.
