Here are Saturday’s Picks:

NOTE THAT THE KINGS/SENATORS GAME STARTS AT 2:00 EST!
Chicago Blackhawks @ Toronto Maple Leafs: OVER 6 Goals 2.06

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been struggling on the defense as of late, allowing 4.10 goals against per game over their last 10 games. Ironically, the Chicago Blackhawks have scored exactly 4.10 goals per game over their last 10 games. Overall, the Leafs still allow 2.85 goals against per game which is 22nd overall. The Chicago Blackhawks have been doing great, winning all of their last 3 games, scoring an impressive 19 goals across those 3 games, which is an average of 6.33 goals per game scored by the Blackhawks alone. Their opponents scored 6 goals in those 3 games, making a total 25 goals (8.33 goals per game) in the Blackhawks last 3 games. Chicago is still the highest scoring team in the NHL with 3.68 goals per game. Both of these teams have a strong power play unit, and actually share the exact same power play percentage overall, at 23.3%. Both clubs need to improve their penalty kill. The Blackhawks have a 74.0 PK% overall which is the 2nd worst in the NHL. The Leafs penalty kill is 27th overall with a 77.2 PK%. The Leafs may have a slightly better penalty kill but the Leafs take 15.6 penalty minutes per game, while the Blackhawks are more disciplined with 9.3 PIM/G. When the Leafs play at Home they have an exceptional 32.0 PP%, while their Home penalty kill is a rather terrible 73.2%. When the Blackhawks play Away their penalty kill is only successful 78.8% of the time, but their power play remains fairly strong on the road at 22.4%. Over their last 10 games the Leafs have maintained a pathetic 64.1% penalty kill, while the Blackhawks have had an impressive 28.9% success rate on the power play over their last 10 games. The Leafs still allow the most shots against of any team in the NHL with 36.6 shots against per game. The Blackhawks take the 2nd most shots on goal per game with 33.4 shots per game. All signs point to the OVER in Toronto on Saturday and we’ll take it for a plus money price.

LA Kings @ Ottawa Senators: UNDER 5 Goals 2.15 (2:00 PM ET)

The 21-7-4 LA Kings will meet the 13-14-6 Ottawa Senators in a 2:00 ET start on Saturday. The LA Kings are the best defensive team in the NHL right now allowing 1.91 goals against per game. The only other team in the NHL allowing less than two goals per game is the Boston Bruins, with 1.94 goals against per game. Over their last 10 games, the Kings have been remarkable on defense, allowing a mere 1.40 goals against per game. The Kings will be going for their sixth straight win in a row against Ottawa on Saturday afternoon. Ben Scrivens and Martin Jones have been incredible, as Quick is still injured. Scrivens has gone 7-2-4 and has the 2nd best goals against average in the NHL (1.56 GAA), and has the BEST save percentage in the League with an incredible .943 SV%. Martin Jones is 23 years old, has played 4 games so far for the Kings and has not lost a single game, and has allowed only 3 goals against him in those 4 games, receiving two shutouts. Jones has a 0.74 goals against average and a .974SV%. To put this in perspective for you, Jones is the FIRST GOALTENDER IN NHL HISTORY to allow an average of less than one goal per game while winning his first four appearances of his career. He also received two back to back shutouts. The Senators face a very tough challenge against the Kings defense. The Sens score 2.82 goals against overall, but over their last 10 games that number has dropped to 2.60 goals per game. They had back to back meetings with the Buffalo Sabres (currently 7th worst defense in the NHL) and could only manage 3 goals in 2 games against the Sabres. The Kings aren’t an offensive powerhouse by any means, with 2.59 goals per game which is 17th overall for scoring. When the Kings play away, they score 2.25 goals per game, while allowing 1.75 goals against. The Kings have gone 92.7% on the penalty kill over their last 10 games, and their power play converted only 5.9% of the time. The LA power play is 20th overall, at 16.4% so they are not a great threat the the Senators penalty kill. The Sens have an 82.4 PK% when playing at Home and the Kings have a 15.4% power play on the road. The Kings have had only 1 of their last 10 games go over the total, with 5 games resulting in a “push” and 4 games staying under 5 goals. The Ottawa Senators and LA Kings offense are nothing special, and the Kings have been equivalent to a brick wall as of late. We will take this UNDER in Ottawa.
