December 11th 2013 Free NHL Picks

A tough night last night as we couldn’t get a winner with both games staying under the total. There is one pick for tonight (so far), the lines for the Chicago/Philadelphia game haven’t been released yet so we may have another pick later on.

Minnesota Wild @ Anaheim Ducks: DUCKS 1.75 BetOnline

This is the second time this week we will pick the Ducks at Home. We picked them to cover the puck line against the NY Islanders on Monday and the Ducks won 5-2. The Ducks are 21-7-5 on the season and are 11-0-2 at Home. Anaheim have not lost a game in regulation time at Home yet this season. The Ducks offense is 4th overall with 3.15 goals per game, but when the Ducks play at Home they are scoring a sensational 3.92 goals per game while allowing only 1.77 goals against per game at Home. The Minnesota Wild have a 23rd place offense that scores only 2.31 goals per game, and when the Wild play Away they can only score 1.86 goals per game. Over their last 10 games the Wild have managed to score a mere 1.90 goals per game, while allowing 2.40 goals against. The Ducks have scored 3.30 goals per game over their last 10 while allowing 2.50 against. The Wild have a slightly better power play overall, with a 20.4 PP% (Ducks are 17.3% overall) but over their last 10 games the Ducks have had a sensational power play that converted 31.3% of the time. The Wild have had success on 13% of their power plays over their L10 games. The Minnesota penalty kill unit needs work, as they currently have a 78.8 PK% overall (25th), and an even worse penalty kill (76.5%) when playing on the Road. The Ducks have won their last 3 games, outscoring their opponents 13-6. The Wild managed a 3-1 win against the Sharks in their last outing even though they took only 13 shots on goal. The Ducks appear to be (near) unstoppable at Home, scoring nearly 4 goals per game and allowing less than 2. The Wild are struggling to score goals in general, and are really struggling to score on the road. We’ll back the Ducks at Home for a second time this week.
