December 10th 2013 Free NHL Picks

A perfect night last night as we cashed our only pick on the Ducks -1.5 and they had no problem covering the puck line winning 5-2 against the Islanders. We picked up 2.44 units last night and have two picks going for tonight:

Phoenix Coyotes @ Colorado Avalanche: OVER 5.5 Goals 2.09

This game will feature two of the top eight highest scoring teams; the Phoenix Coyotes with 3.10 goals per game will meet the Colorado Avalanche who are scoring 2.89 goals per game. Phoenix has a great offense but their defense needs work. The Coyotes defense allows 3.14 goals against per game which is 25th overall. The Coyotes penalty kill also needs work as they have a mere 76.4 PK% which is the 4th worst penalty kill unit in the League right now. Over their last 10 games, Phoenix have gone 71.9% on the penalty kill, while the Avalanche penalty kill unit has also under performed in their last 10 games, with a 76.7 PK%. The Avalanche are going 81.6% on the penalty kill overall. When the Avalanche play at Home, they are great on the offense, scoring 3.29 goals per game at Home. They also allow more goals than usual when playing at Home (2.36 GA/G at Home compared to 2.32 GA/G overall). The Phoenix Coyotes have had three days rest since their last outing and should be well rested tonight. Mike Smith is probable for Phoenix and has a 3.01 goals against average (41st overall) and a .911 save percentage (30th overall). Despite having a great start to his season, Semyon Varlamov now has a 2.43 GAA and a .923 SV%. 7 of the last 10 games for the Coyotes have gone OVER the total, with all totals set at 5.5 goals, and 18 games for the Coyotes have gone over the total this season, with only 10 games staying Under. The Avalanche have been struggling as of late (which included an 8-2 blowout via the Edmonton Oilers) but if they can get back on track tonight they should have no problem scoring against a weak Coyotes defense. Both teams have what it takes to score goals, and we will look for this one to go OVER 5.5 goals tonight in Colorado for a great price.

St. Louis Blues @ Winnipeg Jets : OVER 5.5 Goals 2.14

This is an exceptional price on this over tonight. The St.Louis Blues are the 2nd highest scoring team in the NHL, with 3.39 goals per game. The Blackhawks lead the League with 3.50 G/G so the Blues are not too far behind from being the League’s highest scoring team. The St.Louis Blues power play unit is 2nd best in the NHL with an incredible 24.3 PP%. The Winnipeg Jets allow 2.74 goals against per game, but when playing at Home they allow 3.00 goals against per game. The Jets offense scores 2.48 goals per game overall, but when playing at Home they score 2.75 G/G. One flaw with the Blues is that they take too many penalties. They currently take 14.7 penalty minutes per game which is the 3rd most in the NHL, behind the Leafs (15.8 PIM/G) and the Flyers (17.6 PIM/G). 3 of the last 4 games for the Blues have gone Over 5.5 Goals, with 27 goals on the board in those 4 games (average of 6.75 total goals per game). The Jets have had two days to rest since their last outing, and when playing on two days rest the Jets Over/Under is 5-0 with no games going under the total on two days rest. Also note that the Over is 3-0-1 for the Blues when scoring two goals or less in their previous game. These two teams have met twice this season so far, with one game resulting in 7 goals and the other in 5 goals. We’ll stick with this OVER tonight in Winnipeg for a fantastic price.
